Description
Scalemaster CM10 Corrosionmaster 22mm by for Central Heating Systems 600017 product description:
Scalemaster Corrosion Master CM10 - 22mm.
The Corrosion Master CM10 is designed to continue working unattended for 10 years and is supplied with a installation date label.
Oxygen plays a central role in the corrosion of central heating systems, entering in the form of dissolved oxygen via tap water used for filling. As fire dies upon the removal of oxygen so the corrosion process also ceases. Corrosion Master significantly retards the corrosion process by raising the pH and restricting the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water. Once the dissolved oxygen has been eliminated the unit shutsdown to be automatically reactivated upon the introduction of fresh oxygenated water. Additionally Zinc species that polarise existing corrosion cells are released into the water.
How does Corrosion Master Work?
Corrosion Master acts as a galvanic cell and works in 3 different ways:
- Dissolved oxygen (D.O.) present in a system is converted into a harmless hydroxide species, which does not support the corrosion process. Depriving the corrosion process of it’s vital oxygen source is seen as a key issue in terms of prevention.
- Zinc species from the anode are released into the heating circuit water, providing cathodic protection throughout the system.
- Once fitted, Corrosion Master is automatically activated by the presence of dissolved oxygen that entered via the tap water used for filling. It will then continue to work until all the D.O. has been eliminated, switching off only to be reactivated by the introduction of fresh water. In this sense Corrosion Master is permanent and automatic.
As with a chemical inhibitor the heating circuit should be flushed out thoroughly with either a cleaner such as SM3 or a sludge remover such as SM4 in line with BS 7593. Once completed the Corrosion Master should be fitted to the flow or return of the heating circuit of the boiler using the compression fittings provided.
